If you're like me, you need a cup of tea or coffee to get started in the morning. But how do you make it? Do you use a kettle, or a hot water tap?  In this blog we will compare the pros and cons of both options and hopefully help you decide which one is better for you.

The kettle is the classic appliance that boils water in a few minutes, The modern electric kettle (with the automatic cutoff) hit the shelves 1955, and the core design is still the same now. It's simple, reliable and easy to use. You can choose from different sizes, shapes and designs to suit your kitchen and your taste.

The hot water tap is a modern device that dispenses boiling water instantly from a kitchen mixer. It's convenient, fast and energy-efficient. The first version came in 1992, with popularity gaining for them from the early 00’s onwards. These days hot water taps have transformed into almost all purpose taps - with some having extra features, such as filtered water, chilled water or even sparkling water. Gone are the days of keeping a filtered water jug in the fridge.

So which one is better? Well, it depends on your preferences and needs.

A kettle is cheaper to buy and easier to maintain, but it takes longer to boil water and uses more electricity.

A hot water tap is more expensive, but saves time,  energy and offers more functionality.

Hot taps can be retro-fitted into existing kitchens fairly easily and are even easier to install in new kitchens. If you are changing your kitchen soon I would suggest looking at getting a hot water tap installed at the same time.

Personally, I prefer a hot water tap because I value convenience and speed over cost. You may have a different opinion and that's okay. The important thing is to enjoy your morning hot drink and start your day with a smile.
